The Construction Technician is responsible for providing construction services as required on small construction projects. Although they are not responsible for producing large jobs, depending on their skill set, they may perform some or all of the following: rough and finish carpentry, drywall, paint, prefinished hardwood, and laminate flooring. Additional valuable skillsets would include tile, carpet, roofing, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. They are responsible for delivering a high quality of construction and service in all dealings with customers, clients, subcontractors, resources providers, and company employees involved in managing construction services. In addition, they may be called upon to assist managing larger projects with a superintendent or project manager. I.e. making calls to subcontractors and performing quality control. 

Primary Responsibilities
  • May attend pre-construction meeting with the customer if needed
  • Provide project updates (daily narrative) to Construction Project Manager in electronic format
  • As requested, communicate information to customer and in turn update the Construction Project Manager with all responses. 
  • Schedule project with the Construction Project Manager
  • Perform all construction services as required
    • Rough and Finish Carpentry
    • Drywall (including, mud, tape, and texture)
    • Paint
    • Prefinished Hardwood
    • Laminate Flooring
  • Assist with managing subcontractors
  • Pick up and deliver materials and supplies, and/or manage material deliveries
  • Ensure all work performed complies with the plans, specifications, local codes, and requirements of the scope of work
  • Document all project activities including photos, job diary, and signing job documents using preferred methods and softwares
  • Assist in managing and producing change orders when needed
  • Maintain high standards of quality during work and site inspections
  • Provide evaluation and rating of all vendors and subcontractors
  • Coordinate or be present for inspections with local jurisdictions as needed
  • Ensure material suppliers deliver exactly what was purchased
  • Assist in confirming the budget is reasonable and adequate
  • Perform construction services within the budget, including managing work hours
  • Help to ensure subcontractors completed all work in accordance with their purchase orders
  • Validate the schedule and progress with the Construction Project Manager
  • Identify areas of need outside of contracted scope of work
  • Assist the mitigation department in emergencies (such as large storms) with tarp-up and board-up services
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Construction Manager or Owner

Education and Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least 1-3 years experience in rough and finish carpentry, drywall, paint, and flooring, indicated on resume
  • Superb customer service track record
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Basic math skills
  • Knowledge and skills to perform construction services as needed

Physical and Work Environment Requirements
  • Walking and/or standing throughout the day
  • Frequent driving and sitting
  • Occasionally climbing ladders
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme conditions such as heat
  • The noise level at individual job sites can be loud
  • The employee is exposed to power tools and other machinery

Normal Working Hours, Additional Working hours, and Travel Requirements
This is a full time position, working carrying hours between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. This position may occasionally require long hours (beyond 8 hours a day), responding to emergencies after hours and on weekends. Travel is required and is primarily local, however, some out of area or overnight travel may be required. 
Compensation: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
